Accelerating Skin Repair with Silab’s Cicactyl
A natural active ingredient obtained from Ceratonia siliqua.
Silab Softcare, Silab’s department dedicated to the care of compromised skin, has unveiled Cicactyl—a natural active ingredient specifically developed to accelerate and improve the efficacy of the skin healing process.
Obtained from carob gum (Ceratonia siliqua), it favors skin repair dynamics by targeting the 4 biological events in the proliferation phase of healing: the formation of granulation tissue is supported, the vascular network is improved, re-epithelialization of the wound is stimulated and inflammation is reduced. Its healing efficacy was demonstrated clinically in a cohort of adult Caucasian subjects with damaged skin: as of the first applications, Cicactyl promotes recovery of the damaged skin barrier. As a result of this rapid action, erythema, drying and scabs are attenuated, showing a positive action on the quality of healing.
This new component debuts as Silab Softcare marks its 10th anniversary. The organization hosted a scientific seminar about compromised skin ahead of In-Cosmetics in Paris. Attendees listened to scientific presentations from experts as well as company officials.
